Miriam Modena
I was born in Turin, in 1991.
I graduated from the Santa Giulia Academy of Fine Arts, Brescia, specializing in "New Art Technologies" and I am a video artist.
In 2007 I participated in the exhibition “Ars Captiva, Paths to Creative Liberation” with a collective work. In 2008 the previously mentioned first work, "La rafta della medusa (caged freedom)" was permanently installed in the Italo Calvino Public Library in Turin.
In 2009 I participated in the “You Prison” internship at the Sandretto Re Rebaudengo Foundation which I concluded with a collective performance inside a cell-building by the Serbian architect Anna Miljacki. This experience of sharing and training allowed me to develop a work.
I exhibited it at "Ars Captiva - Horror Vacui Horror Pleni" with the title "In the beginning was the verb".
In May-June 2010 the work was exhibited in Berlin at the VBM 20.10 Contemporary Art and on that occasion purchased by a German collector.
From 2014 to 2016 I took a break to explore the world.
In 2016 I participated in the "IoEspongo" competition, whose final brought me an honorable mention, in Turin and in 2018 in the "Azimut week" exhibition, both curated by Andrea Cordero.
I worked monthly with the BresciaMusei association to create periodic videos in 2017.
I exhibited in 2019 at the “Premio Contemporary Rome Art Vol. I” at Palazzo Velli Expo curated by Ilaria Giacobbi and in 2020 and 2021 at the “ARTEmide” exhibition Vol. I and Vol. II at “Bauhaus Home Gallery”.
I curated 2 calls for artists, with Ilaria Giacobbi, in 2020.
I am exhibiting at the virtual International Art Show in L.A. with my last 10 works and I participate in 2 competitions for the same.
In 2021 I exhibited an installation at Rome Art Week in a solo exhibition.
In 2022 I exhibit in Chicago, at the Dragonfly Gallery at the exhibition "I am a woman", in 2023 at the same for "Portraits".
